Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, or LOPA is the federally designed Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) for the state of Louisiana. Donors are heroes. For more detailed information and grief family support visit the LOPA website.
The mission of Angel Gowns by Diane is to provide, at no cost to the family, burial gowns and other farmers for families who have suffered the loss of a child before, during or shortly after birth. To do this we will seek out donations of wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and other formal wear in suitable condition to be dissembled and the resulting material used to create angel gowns.
The mission of Heartstrings and Angel wings (501c3 org) is to provide clothing and other handmade items for babies in Neonatal Intensive Care Units. (NICUs) The items aid in comforting the babies and uplift the spirits of the baby’s family members.
The SWLA Safe Sleep Task Force works to educate parents, professionals and caregivers on the American Academy of Pediatrics Safe Sleep Guidelines and to improve knowledge, attitudes and beliefs about the risk of unsafe sleep environments.
The mission of Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep is to introduce remembrance photography to parents suffering the loss of a baby with a free gift of professional portraiture. Note: Enter local SWLA zip code and search 100 mile radius.

Monks from New Melleray Abbey in Iowa build infant-sized caskets out of sustainable red oak harvested from the abbey’s forest; infant caskets are provided free of charge as a ministry to families. Every child provided a Trappist Casket is remembered in a Mass said by our monks and, as a living memorial, we plant a red oak seedling in the spring on the Abbey grounds in honor of each child who is buried in one of our caskets.
